Golden Hour
Golden Hour. What is it?
Golden hour is that small window of time that portrait and landscape photographers alike crave for the yummy, warm light that pours over our subjects.
When does golden hour happen?
It occurs right after sunrise and right before the sun sets when the sun is lower. One can read their local weather forecast on sunset and sunrise time predictions and show up early to photograph the golden hour.
Why is golden hour so special?
In the middle of the day, when the sun is higher, the shadows that are cast can be harsher and often unflattering. Photographers photographing in the middle of the day often need to use a flash to help with the harshness that occurs. With the golden hour, the shadows are softer and longer. The light is also warmer.
