If you have not found her yet you are really missing out. she is a sweetheart, active in the community and you can see the passion she has for photography through her art work. Please take a seat and read a bit about Samantha Photography and enjoy her stunning imagery!
How long have you been doing photography all together and how long as a business?
I have always loved photography… at home i am forever looking through boxes full of old photographs. it has always fascinated me that you can capture a moment in time before it has gone forever! I brought my first DSLR camera after my first niece was born about 6 years ago. My passion for photography just grew from there really…. but it has been only the past 1/2 years that i have really thought that this is what i want to do forever.
What made you want to get into lifestyle photography?
Well after my niece was born i was determined to capture her life as best i could. I didn't want just mundane photographs of her…. i want my nieces to look back at these images and really remember what it was like right there and then in that moment.
What is the one thing about lifestyle photography that you love the most?
I love that you can capture a fleeting moment and keep it forever.
Can you give one tip of how you shoot with moodier light or low light?
Find that one bit of light, no matter how small and work with it, it's fun and you never know what kind of image will come out of it. The moodier the better for me! Or if there is no light, pump up that ISO.
Who is your favorite muse? and why?
Oh gosh, my favourite muse. Well, I haven't just got one. My little nieces and my cousins are my favourite's to photograph. Children are just not fazed by the camera and never care what they look like…. which means you can capture the real them.
What is your favorite time of the day to shoot?
Ooh that is a tough one. I haven't really got one. It all depends on the weather and light available. In England it is always pretty dull…. but morning and then sometimes evening is possibly the best but it can change daily.
Can you tell us a little about how you get kids to loosen up and not be shy so you can do your thing?
Well the kids in my family have never had a choice and have got use to my camera always in their face growing up. Poor things, ha. To be honest…. i have never come across kids being shy in front of the camera…. it is usually the adults (me included). If kids are shy, just let them do their own thing for a while, talk to them about their favourite things and play with them…. kids love when you show an interest.
How do you prepare yourself and your clients going into a lifestyle shoot?
Get plenty of rest the night before and to try not to stress about it too much (me or the client).
How do you get families to be themselves and not nervous, can you share some tips?
I would tell them to relax, enjoy it and to never feel like they have to smile. Let them do their own thing and to not pose them too much.
What would you tell someone wanting to venture into lifestyle photography, but doesn't know how to make the transition?
Just do it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The world is your canvas.
